Grandmother’s Last Photograph Captures Daughter’s Joy Before Tragic Fatal Accident

A family grieves the loss of three-year-old Scarlett, sharing her final “happy” photograph captured moments before a hit-and-run driver tragically ended her life.

Scarlett Jensen’s mother discovered the final photo weeks after the tragedy

The poignant image, taken by the child’s grandmother, went viral after being shared by her mother, Samantha Jensen. “My mom photographed her at 4:47 pm, and her time of death was 4:52,” Jensen told her followers. “Knowing what comes next breaks my heart.”

Jensen was away at a wedding when the incident occurred in Oldtown, Idaho. Her children, Scarlett and two-year-old Henry, were with their grandmother Jamie. “They had gotten ice cream and were walking when Scarlett wanted to pick flowers,” Jensen recounted.

While strolling in their private driveway, a Chevy Tahoe struck all three family members.

“My mother was screaming, trying to move the children, but the driver was moving too fast,”

Jensen said. Scarlett was killed almost instantly, while her mother and brother were critically injured.

Local authorities quickly apprehended the driver, a 23-year-old from Newport who is now serving a 10-year prison sentence. Henry spent a week in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, suffering multiple injuries including eight broken ribs, a fractured spine, and a broken jaw.

“Scarlett had the perfect life, surrounded by love,”

said her grandfather Jim Patton.

“She was just starting school, making friends, and was excited about playing soccer.”

The family discovered the last photograph weeks after the accident when they recovered Jamie’s lost phone.

A memorial fund has been established to help cover funeral expenses, commemorating a vibrant life cut tragically short.
